"It must be a sign of talent that I do not give up, though I can get nobody to take an interest in my efforts."
Everyone knows the name Mendelssohn, but did you know that there are two of them? Fanny Mendelssohn is the older sister of Felix Mendelssohn. She was born in Hamburg, Germany on November 4, 1805. Fun fact: she was even considered the better pianist by her brother. She wrote around 500 compositions, but 6 of her pieces were actually published under her brother's name. In 1829, she married court painter Wilhelm Hensel. Throughout her life, she was always close to her brother. She unfortunately passed away on May 14th, 1847 (just 6 months before Felix).
Some of her pieces we recommend are Easter Sonata, Wanderer's Nightsong, and String Quartet in E-Flat Major.
