This month's student spotlight is on violinist Yuna Hanaki, violist Jonathan Mich, and cellist Daniel Yi! These three students achieved a great accomplishment by placing in the 2024-2025 TMEA All-State Orchestra! This achievement took months of hard work from going through the process of All-Region auditions, to recording for All-State, and finally making it in. To highlight this amazing success, we asked each of the three students what they were looking forward to about All-State.
Yuna Hanaki is currently a freshman, and she placed in the All-State Philharmonic Orchestra. She expressed that she was most excited to meet new people and try the food they have to offer!
Jonathan Mich is a sophomore who placed in the All-State Symphony Orchestra. He is looking forward to the overall experience, meeting new people, and seeing what they have to offer at the convention.
Daniel Yi is a junior who placed in the All-State Symphony Orchestra, and this is his second year as an All-Stater! He is looking forward to making new friends, seeing past friends from last year, and playing a piece by Bartók.
These students showed immense dedication to honing their skills as musicians. The All-State performance will take place in February in San Antonio. If you see them around the school make sure to congratulate them on this wonderous accomplishment!
